Acer Aspire 8920GU - Laptop / Notebook
The Aspire 8920GU is a part of the brand new Aspire Gemstone Blue entertainment laptop PC series, with advanced multimedia features, an innovative design, and the latest Intel Centrino processing technology.
The AS8920G includes an 18.4-inch “full” high-definition display with 1920×1080 resolution, and 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio. The screen is managed by the latest NVIDIA GeForce 9500M GS or the GeForce 9650M GS video card, both with 512MB of dedicated video memory.
This laptop utilizes various audio technologies, including Dolby Home Theater, CineSurround, Tuba CineBass booster, and True 5.1 output.
“The Aspire 8920G is the world’s first notebook to feature actual, built-in multi-speaker True5.1 surround sound through six integrated speakers, making it the ideal choice for Full HD movies and gaming,” Acer’s press release says.
Other multimedia features include a Blu-ray optical drive or a DVD burner, an HDMI output with HDCP support, and a TV tuner on select models.
Regarding its design, the Aspire 8920 comes with the CineDash media console, a touch-sensitive interface for navigating menus, adjusting volume and controlling multimedia. The laptop also has the multi-layered, shimmering 3D finish, contrasting textures, a “chic” blue, black and silver color scheme, and interior/exterior lighting effects. Unlike the 16-inch 6920G, the 8920G features a numeric pad on the notebook’s keyboard.
This laptop sports an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, up to 4GB of system memory, up to 640GB of data storage capacity using two hard drives, the Intel 4965AGN wireless module, Gigabit Ethernet, Bluetooth, and 56k modem connections, as well as a built in web camera and fingerprint reader.
Besides an HDMI port, the Acer Aspire 8920G provides an ExpressCard slot, four USB ports, a 6-in-1 media card reader, VGA output, and an infrared receiver.
